We understand that many of our passengers rely on The HOP to get to work, school, and medical appointments, however sometimes unsafe driving conditions prohibit The HOP from operating. Hill Country Transit District Request for Proposals

Hill Country Transit District (HCTD) dba The HOP, a political subdivision of the State of Texas, provides general public transportation services in a nine-county area in Central Texas. HCTD is soliciting proposals for management services for an Interim General Manager intended to be a bridge between HCTD’s current state of operations and the hiring of a permanent General Manager. HCTD is interested in contracting for a qualified transit manager to provide management services for its day-to-day public transportation operations, assist in the implementation of recommendations of a 2021 transit study, optimize cost effectiveness, increase ridership, provide superior customer service, and assist with financial planning and stability, staff development, innovation, schedule adherence and the image of the fleet and system.

Stop Discontinuation

Effective October 10th, 2021, the stop on RT-2 at Dean Street and Gray Avenue will be discontinued and no longer serviced. Nearby stops can be found at the intersection of Dean & 2nd Street as well as at Dean & 8th Street.

The HOP to Offer Feeder Routes to Aid in COVID-19 Vaccinations

Bell County will be providing COVID-19 vaccines at the Sammons Community Center in Temple, the Killeen Community Center in Killeen, and at the Expo Center in Belton. In order to ensure that the vaccine is properly disseminated, The HOP will be providing a limited feeder service to aid passengers with transport to these centers. The HOP Requires Cloth Face Masks

Effective July 2nd 2020, all passengers and visitors to The HOP will be required to wear a face covering (such as a cloth mask) on transit vehicles and in public settings in addition to practicing social distancing measures.

The HOP Response to COVID-19

As the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has become a concern, the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) have issued certain hygiene and sanitation guidelines. The HOP will continue to keep the safety of its riders and employees as its top priority. The HOP enforces a rigorous sanitation routine in which all vehicles that go into service are thoroughly sanitized by our staff every evening. In response to COVID-19, The HOP is going beyond CDC recommendations by ensuring that each vehicle is chemically treated at least three times per day while in service. As a passenger, if you have any concerns about the cleanliness or safety of our service, we encourage you to bring it to the attention of the driver, or to call The HOP at (254) 933-3700.

In addition to the buses being disinfected 3x per day, we ask that:

Construction on RT-510

Due to construction on the stop on 31st Street between Avalon and Canyon Creek on RT-510 will not be serviced until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Temple College Stop Relocated

Effective August 26th, the stop on Avenue U at Temple College will be relocated to 1st Street. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

RT-35 Reroute

Due to construction, RT-35 will not service stops along Verna Lee nor on Indian Trail near Autozone until further notice. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Hill Country Transit District (HCTD) is soliciting proposals from firms for a program involving the solicitation, selling, contracting, design, installation, administration, and maintenance of advertisements on media including buses and bus shelters. If you or your firm are interested in submitting a proposal, more information can be found in this Request For Proposals.

RT-530 Reroute

Until further notice, Route 530 will use an alternate route and by-pass the stop at Adams/49th. Nearest stop is located at West Adams/West Gate Drive.

RT-4 Detour

Due to construction on Fort Hood Street, the RT-04 will not be following its regular route. Instead it will depart from the Killeen Transfer Station, will bypass Priest Drive, instead will stay on N. 2nd to Florence Rd, will make a right on Jasper Rd, then it will tur left on Old FM 440 to resume its route.

Location of Transfer Station in Killeen

For those utilizing Routes 4 or 100, the location of the Transfer Station is on Old 440 Road between Ginger and Baldwin. The stop hasn't had a pole installed yet, but it is located in front of Hector's Inspections near the stack of tires that have been painted yellow. The pole for the location is set to be installed within the next two weeks. Thank you for your patience during this transition.

Detour on RT-4

Due to construction at the Walmart on Central Texas Expressway in Killeen, RT-4 will be making a detour until further notice. Instead of stopping at the Walmart on CTE, RT-4 will continue down the access road, and turn on Walmart Blvd. The stop at Walmart will be bypassed, but the stop in front of Kohl's will still be in use for passengers wanting to go to Walmart.
